Hi! Thank you for visiting MarleneDigsIt. I hope you are able to find something interesting to read or information that can be helpful for you. My name is Marlene and I am the founder of MarleneDigsIt. I created the news brand concept back in 2010, but I did not put this wheel into rotation until recently due to various reasons. Turns out life does not always go at the time or speed that we want it to in terms of personal desires, but we have to keep going. Patience is so important to success and is the message I hope to continuously reiterate to all of you through the different branches of this news site. I chose early on to focus on sharing stories because news and information is so very important to me and always has been. We live our world in news. Without the transfer of information how else would we know what is going on? It is not something I woke up one morning and decided I wanted to do or doing it because the next person is doing it. I live and breathe stories. I have been reading and writing stories since I was a child. My parents even captured a moment of me as a toddler putting my attention on a newspaper as a foreshadow of what would make my heart soar. Not many people find that thing that they are passionate about, but I was incredibly lucky to do that at a young age and never changed my mind. This field of sharing stories and informing people known as Journalism provides me access to all the things I want to explore in life and that is why I love it so much.

I am a Puerto Rican woman who was born and raised in the Harlem section of New York City. I attended Jane Addams Vocational High School which I was very fortunate to attend because vocational high schools are a lost gem in New York that needs a major come back as it would bring so much joy to students again as it did for me. I gained my college instruction at Borough Of Manhattan Community College, Kingsborough Community College, and Brooklyn College. I met alot of people over the years who have taught me really great things and those who served their purpose as a lesson which allowed me to make wiser choices. I met my spouse Luis in 2008 through working together at the now closed restaurant Mr. Skewer which served Brazilian cuisine and he brought so much goodness into my life. He proposed to me in 2015 and that same year we got married at City Hall haha! We skipped the whole big wedding sha-bang because our marriage is not defined by an expensive dress, fancy caterers, a big cake, thousands of flowers, or phony people waiting to point out what is wrong with your wedding or even what is wrong with you both as a couple. I wanted it to be us focused on each other and savor the moment with people who truly were there for us and supportive of us all the way. This is not to demean anyones idea of what a wedding should be it is just what worked for us. By the way my dress was beautiful and 60 bucks! I found the dress by chance at a thrift shop and was not looking for one at all as I had one already purchased a dress for my wedding day. I am so glad I did because it was much more in sync with the look I wanted and obviously very budget friendly.

My husband and I have been married for 7 years, but together for 14. We have had our trials and triumphs, but he has been a huge blessing and I would do it all over again if I had to. You will see him throughout the site as well as other relatives of mine. I am very family oriented and I think it is important that this be shown through the content on MarleneDigsIt. While I am open in mindset, I am very much no-nonsense so if you are heavily into creating chaos then this is probably not the site for you. I want to bring people together through education of what is going on and introducing people to information that can help their lives somehow. I avoided placing politics and religion as front running topics on MarleneDigsIt for that very reason- all of the animosity that erupts from those discussions.

This is 1/4 of my story. I may revise my story later on, but the best way to get to know me is through my writing. Do not hesitate to send me an email with any questions and I will be happy to return your inquiry as soon as possible for me. Have a day full of comfort.
